Surplus Inventory Guide

Part 04: Turn surplus stock into value

Written by Active Stock Management | Oct 8, 2026, 11:44:34 AM

01 Prepare your stock list for valuation

Once the decision is approved internally, the sale starts with the stock list. Clear and complete information helps buyers assess the stock faster and make a more accurate offer.

Nine things that improve your offer

  • Supply complete part numbers
  • Identify brands clearly
  • Include representative photographs
  • Explain the reason for sale
  • List all stock locations
  • Separate new, used and damaged goods
  • Provide accurate quantities
  • Flag packaging or handling requirements
  • State your collection deadline

Original cost does not determine current value

Current value depends on demand, condition, quantity and product status. Older or discontinued parts can still have strong demand, while newer stock may be worth less.

02 Template: the stock list

One row per item or batch. The more complete each row is, the more accurate the offer. Where a field does not apply to your stock, leave it empty.

03 How the selling process works

Once your list is ready, the sale runs in four steps. Most of the work sits with us.

1 Get in touch
Send your stock list and/or photographs.
2 Receive our offer
We assess your stock and discuss our obligation-free offer with you.
3 We take care of transport
We arrange cross-border transport where needed.
4 Receive payment
Once the goods are received and inventoried, we transfer your payment.

You have turned your surplus into value.

The stock is sold, collected and paid for, and the space is back in use. In the next part, you can make sure surplus does not build up unnoticed again.
